Rebekah Alice, CPM, LM
Hello, I’m Rebekah! I’m a licensed home birth midwife serving families in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and the surrounding areas. My own story began with a fast and wild home birth in Spokane area. That birth planted a seed that eventually blossomed into a lifelong calling.
Before becoming a midwife, I spent eight years doing international mission work with Youth With A Mission (YWAM), living and serving in countries like Thailand, Cambodia, Azerbaijan, Kenya, Uganda, and the Philippines. It was through this global exposure— witnessing birth in vastly different settings and recognizing the deep need for compassionate, dignified care—that my passion for midwifery was born.
I received my midwifery training in the Philippines, catching babies full-time at a high-volume Christian charity based birth center that served impoverished women and families. I earned my CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) credential through NARM in 2014, became licensed in Washington State in 2015, and in Idaho in 2021.
After more than a decade of practice in a community-based setting, I’ve grown Lilac City Midwifery into a small, faith-rooted group practice. We offer holistic, low-volume care designed to deeply support families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
I specialize in physiological birth and offer vaginal birth options for breech and twins to low-risk families who are seeking alternatives to hospital birth. I’ve trained with Breech Without Borders in the art and skill of both breech and twin birth and am currently one of the few midwives in the region offering these services safely out of hospital.
My goal in every client relationship is twofold: that families feel empowered and deeply supported in their experience, and that they are met with skill, safety, and reverence for the sacred work of birth.
At its core, my midwifery practice is an extension of my faith. I believe birth is a God-designed process—holy, powerful, and transformative. It is my joy and calling to walk with women and families through it.
I attended the National College of Midwifery and was dual enrolled in Newlife International School of Midwifery (a MEAC accredited school) based in Davao City, Philippines from 2012-2014.
After graduating from midwifery school in 2014 I took the national midwifery board exam offered by NARM (North American Registry of Midwives) and received my CPM (Certified Professional Midwife) credential.
In January 2015 I met the requirements for Washington State licensure and became a Licensed Midwife.
In September 2021 I met the requirements for Idaho State licensure.
I maintain current certification in both my CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation.
In 2023 I completed a hands on in person training in vaginal breech birth through Breech Without Borders.
Olivia Hanson, Senior Student Midwife
After completing a medical missions training in 2020, God placed midwifery on my heart. Following this calling, in 2022 I enrolled in the National College of Midwifery and moved to the Philippines, where I immediately fell in love with this deeply relational work.
During my time in the Philippines, I gained hands-on experience at a high-volume birth center serving underprivileged communities. There, I learned from skilled midwives from around the world and supported hundreds of women through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. This experience exposed me to a wide range of birth situations, sharpened my skills, and taught me how to provide competent, compassionate care.
In the spring of 2025, I joined Lilac City Midwifery to complete my remaining clinical requirements. I have loved working alongside this supportive team and serving Spokane and the surrounding communities. These experiences have reaffirmed my love of birthwork, deepened my trust in women’s innate ability to grow, birth, and nurture their babies, and my commitment to supporting physiologic birth.
I plan to sit for the NARM exam in early 2026 and pursue licensure in Washington and Idaho. I look forward to continuing to serve the Lilac families!
Meet Emily Walden!
Midwife Assistant
When I was 16, my parents decided to have their fifth baby at home. Watching my sister come shooting out onto my dad’s foot, I was hooked! In 2014, I spent some time in the Philippines volunteering at Mercy Maternity Clinic, learning and honing my skills as a birth assistant. I have been privileged to attended over one hundred births and I love being able to serve families in this capacity.
In September 2020, I received my certification as a breastfeeding counselor. I believe that breastfeeding support is an essential component of postpartum care. My goal is to give families the support and knowledge they need to help them in their breastfeeding journey.
Emily holds current certification in Neonatal Resuscitation and Breastfeeding Counseling
